2015 - 2016

Posted on 15 January, 2016 at 17:20

Unfortunately it’s been a while since the last entry! I can only apologise. 2015 has been a productive year for us, firstly with our 90th year Celebration Showcase, which went down a storm. The Direction, Choreography, music, costumes, stage etc. were excellent. A lot of hard work was put into the show by the cast, production team and back stage team, which showed on the live shows. The youngsters were an absolute credit to us and it was especially pleasing to see some of our more mature, experienced members take to the stage again. (See our photos of the rehearsals)

It wasn’t long after the showcase that we started rehearsing for our Annual Pantomime which was Dick Whittington and his Cat. As usual a lot of time and effort went into getting it on Stage. The cast, production team and the behind stage crew never cease to amaze me as to how much time and effort they put into staging the show. There were some particular outstanding performances from the cast.

The Pantomime was great success which showed through the ticket sales. However we do seem to struggle on the Wednesday and Thursday shows. We really do need the support of the public to fill the seats; we rely on the Annual Pantomime to make enough money so we are able to put on the more expensive Musical. If you didn’t see it you missed out on a great Pantomime. Why not put our next one in your diaries now. Dec 7th 2016 – Dec 10th 2016. Robin Hood and babes in the Woods. Venue TBC. Directed by David Hartill and Chris Oxley.

This brings us up to date with the current production, Anything Goes. We are looking for cast and crew for the show. If you fancy putting on your tap shoes and a little grease paint then why not audition for a Principle part. See Normanton 5 Towns Facebook page for announcement about the Principle parts available, or see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anything_Goes. Audition closing date is Jan 21st 2016; auditions are on 24th Jan 2016. There are no auditions for the chorus so just turn up for the rehearsals. Like our page on Facebook and we’ll announce the start of the rehearsals on there. If you have an interest in front of house, backstage, makeup or any aspect of musical theatre then get in contact we may have some openings, we can certainly offer our experience if you need it for development, young and old.

See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anything_Goes for further information about the show and synopsis.
